Fariha Ahmed

Fariha Ahmed’s journey from Judgemeadow to a career in law shows how the skills developed at school can continue to play an important role in future study and employment.

At Judgemeadow, Fariha particularly enjoyed History and English. History helped develop her ability to think critically, analyse evidence and consider different perspectives, while English strengthened her writing and communication skills. These are skills she continues to use in her current role, whether reviewing evidence, drafting legal documents or communicating clearly with clients.

Fariha went on to study Law at De Montfort University, where she gained practical experience alongside her studies through an internship within the university’s Careers Department and volunteering with Living Without Abuse and the Witness Service at Crown Court. She also completed a placement year within the Careers Team before securing a part-time role as a Clinical Negligence Paralegal during her final year. Fariha graduated with a First-Class Law degree before progressing to a Master’s degree in Law.

Since then, Fariha has continued to build her experience, including working as a Personal Progress Mentor at WQE College and completing a Vacation Scheme at Capsticks LLP. She now works as a Clinical Negligence Paralegal at Simpson Millar Solicitors, where she reviews medical records and evidence, prepares legal documents, liaises with clients and medical experts, and supports solicitors with the progression of cases.

One of Fariha’s proudest professional achievements has been receiving a firm-wide ‘Colleague of the Month’ award in recognition of her work and contribution to the team. She is currently studying for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) alongside working full-time and hopes to qualify as a solicitor in the future.
